Now in its nineth year, The Masque of the Red Death is Akron’s premier Halloween event for adults.

Be among the hundreds of souls who’ll celebrate deep into the night at a most macabre, artfully elegant, daring, dramatic and decadent Halloween masquerade party at the historic and haunted Akron Civic Theatre.

Arrive in splendor, don’t be late, the party begins when the clock strikes 8.

Arrive using the entrance under the Civic marquee on Main Street.

Reserve your ticket in advance, plan your disguise, join the dance.


$75 admission includes beer, wine and signature beverage with delectable light hors d’oeuvres  and inclusive full bar service.

The Masquerade is a voluptuous scene where costumes, masques and disguises are in vogue. Dress the part - ELEGANT ATTIRE IS REQUIRED, you are a guest of Prince Prospero so dress the part! For more about costumes, follow the Costumes link.

The scene is luscious glitter and glare, wine and ale and savory fare. Music, dancing, fortunes, performances and guests intriguing all will fill the hours of the night, while through it all you’ll find delight. Stroll gypsy trails, peruse the scene-beauty, beast, and in-between. The Masque features paranormal readings, performances, live music and an interactive game in addition to spontaneous artistic happenings throughout the night.

Costume Props Policy
No functional weapon props or real weapons are allowed at Masque of the Red Death. Plastic, simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security and compliance with the following:
• All costume props and weapons must be inspected at Security Check, located in the Arcade of the Civic on Main St, prior to entry of event.
• Projectile costume props and weapons must be rendered inoperable, (ie guns, bow and arrow etc).
• Functional (real) arrows must have their tips removed and be bundled and zip-tied to a quiver. Plastic guns will have the trigger mechanism zip tied at entry.
If you do not want to have your costume props inspected or tagged, or if you are not willing to comply with these policies, please do not bring your costume props to Masque of the Red Death. All costume props and weapons must be inspected at the Security Check. The venue reserves the right to change or modify any policy or rule at any time and without notice.
